KODA
Koda is a character-driven branding project centered on bringing a visual identity to life through expressive animation. The main focus was capturing fluid facial dynamics, analyzing how shapes and proportions shift to convey distinct emotions like laughing, sleeping, and crying. The result is a seamless transition from static logo design to a convincing, high-personality character built for digital storytelling.

Note:
This was a project as a motion designer at Hannibal Roeselare. The design/concept wasn't made by me.
Character Expression & Facial Dynamics
A key focus of this project was translating emotion into the 'laughing', 'sleeping' and 'crying' state for Koda. This required an in-depth analysis of facial mechanics and character anatomy: exploring how shapes, volumes, and proportions shift when a face movesin different animation styles. To ensure convincing and expressive dynamics, extensive visual research and reference studies were conducted beforehand using Pinterest and Dribbble.
Two other Concepts
To provide the client with a range of strategic directions, the design team developed three distinct concepts. I translated each concept into a dedicated animation to effectively bring the visual styles to life. Following the review, the client ultimately selected the first concept for further production. In the end, they chose the first concept.
Designing for a Cause
Working on the KODA project was a deeply rewarding experience. It is incredibly fulfilling to contribute creative skills to an organisation dedicated to creating better opportunities for children. Bringing Koda to life through motion wasn’t just a design challenge. It was an opportunity to help shape a warm, approachable visual voice for a powerful and necessary cause.
